Raditz Arrival on Earth (aka Dragon Ball Z Raditz Saga)

The story begins 5 years after Goku (World Champion) defeated Piccolo in the 23^rd World Martial Arts tournament in Dragon Ball series. He is married to Chi-Chi and has a son named Gohan. Dragon Ball Z Saiyan Saga starts with the arrival of Raditz. He is a Saiyan who arrives exactly during the time Gohan was 4 years old.

After exiting his spaceship (Attack Ball), he met a farmer. His power rating was 5 as per his scouter (Introducing dragon ball z scouter rating). The cowboy farmer shot him with a gun out of fear. Raditz returned the favour by killing him with the same bullet he caught (originally a stone pebble as per manga).

Meanwhile, Gohan who has gone to the nearby forest, had his own thrilling adventures before eventually being rescued by Goku. Raditz detected a strong presence and came across Piccolo. He scouted Piccolo’s power to be 322. At the same time, Piccolo attacked Raditz with a ki blast (only could burn his toe hair) but without any harm.

After detecting Goku’s location Raditz flew away in Goku’s direction, ignoring Piccolo. Goku who has taken Gohan to meet his friends (Master Roshi, Bulma, Krillin and Old Turtle) in Kame house senses Raditz. Raditz informs Goku of both their true identities as brothers. He talks about their Saiyan heritage and also about the significance of their tails.

Krillin tries to shoo (acting cool) away Raditz but was thrashed away with a tail sweep. Raditz scouted Goku’s power level to be 334, which seems pathetic in his eyes. Revealing his name as Raditz and Goku’s name as Kakarot, Raditz asks him to kill the humans of Earth.

However, on being denied Raditz knee bombed Goku on his belly, effortlessly defeating the strongest man on Earth. He grabbed Gohan and ordered Goku to kill 100 humans within one day’s worth of time, in exchange for Gohan.

Raditz took Gohan and locked him in his spaceship. He also scolded Gohan for being a crybaby as a Saiyan. His scouter showed Gohan’s power rating as 710 but he dismisses it as scouter error. Piccolo arrives revealing Goku about his confrontation with Raditz. After discussing things both Piccolo and Goku joined hands to confront Raditz.

They reached Raditz’s place by tracking the 4 star dragon ball on Gohan’s cap using dragon radar. On arriving at the place both removed their heavy clothing increasing their power levels. Goku displayed a power level of 416 and Piccolo displayed 408 which surprised Raditz a little.

But Raditz instantly injured Goku and cut Piccolo’s one arm, displaying superior strength and speed. Goku distracted Raditz from Piccolo, who started preparing his new technique (for previously defeating Goku). Goku used Kamehameha to attack Raditz reaching a power level of 925.  

Raditz was able to block Goku’s attack. Piccolo used his special beam cannon (Makankosappo) attack on Raditz. It increased his power level by 1020 and further reached the level of 1330. Raditz became worried realizing Earth’s warriors to be able to concentrate their powers on one point, and raise their level.

He dodged it and was able to escape with a minor injury on his shoulder, but noted that he would be in bad shape if hit. Raditz easily overpowered them displaying a massive power of 1200 which could reach 1500. Later Goku grabbed Raditz tail paralyzing him, but still spared Raditz for his pleading of life.

Raditz gave Goku a good lesson for his kindness, pummeling (I am calling it toe slap) him down. Gohan on seeing his father’s condition became enraged and was able to activate his mystic powers for the first time, displaying a power level of 1307.

Gohan head-butted (tackle attack) Raditz on his chest area. It not only damaged Raditz’s Saiyan armor but also weakened his power. However, Gohan’s power reversed back to the level of 1 and fainted with a slap from Raditz, who wanted to kill him. Goku grabbed Raditz from behind and urged Piccolo to kill them both to take out Raditz.

Piccolo asked why not grab Raditz tail again. Goku simply reminds him of avoiding the possibility of Raditz cutting his own tail to escape. This time Piccolo displayed even more power (determination to kill both) reaching a level of 1485 with his special beam cannon (light of death). The attack impaled both Raditz and Goku’s chest.

Raditz before his death gets to know about the dragon balls from Piccolo’s conversation with Bulma’s group, who arrived later. He declares the arrival of two more powerful Saiyans within 1 year on Earth. Raditz hopes to be resurrected (how naïve) by the duo. His scouter has the function of communicating and transferring data of user’s activities with other similar Scouters.
