Before dying, Piccolo answered Gohan’s question. He expressed his wish to protect Gohan, as Gohan is the only person who has talked kindly to him. He also feels kinship towards Gohan and also respects Goku. Kami also bids his farewell to Mr Popo, being relieved with Piccolo’s change as a person.
Gohan in his anger used Masenko to attack Nappa. Nappa deflects it away, although he feels the pain in his fist. Vegeta scouts Gohan’s power to be 2800 but notes that it is a one-time attack. Just as Nappa was going to kill Gohan, Goku saves Gohan from Nappa by bringing Gohan away on his nimbus cloud (Kinto’un). He gives half a Senzu bean to both Krillin and Gohan restoring their strength.

Hence the battle between Nappa vs Goku begins. During the battle against Nappa, Vegeta scouts Goku’s power to be 8000 (one of the most fan favourite moments of the story), shocking Nappa. Goku thrashed and bashed Nappa constantly reminding him of his revenge against Nappa for his dead friends. Nappa like an enraged bull charged against Goku but got beaten back here and there.

Nappa tried his best but Goku was playing (cannonbolt) with his opponent. Vegeta screamed at Nappa reminding him to calm down and focus. Nappa fought with more focus but Goku could easily read his moves. Nappa used his strongest attack firing a ki blast from his mouth at point-blank range against Goku. Goku used a ki wave to counter it shattering Nappa’s confidence.
Vegeta ordered him to back off, due to Nappa being toyed by Kakarot. Before leaving the battlefield, Nappa tried to kill Gohan and Krillin. Goku who knew that he could not reach Nappa quickly used 1x Kaioken for a split second, which increased his speed, strength and senses. He surpassed 8000 power instantly crippling and defeating Nappa.

Krillin asked about the technique from Goku. Goku explained Kaioken to be King Kai’s one of strongest techniques. Kaioken allows a person to control the ki of the body and increase the power level for some time. He also recalls King Kai’s warning to Goku to not use Kaioken beyond 2x level.

Vegeta lift-throws Nappa to the sky, killing him with a ki blast for his failure (ironic). Goku realizes the might of Vegeta from his attack. Goku asks Krillin and Gohan to stay safe and on Krillin’s advice, goes to a distant place followed by Vegeta. Both Saiyans land in a desert. Vegeta explains about high and low-class Saiyan warriors.
Since Kakarot was a lower class Saiyan, he was sent to Earth as an infant to capture planet Earth for Saiyans. Goku gets into trouble not being able to withstand Vegeta’s explosive assault. Goku started to use 1x Kaioken actively, but Vegeta didn’t even break a sweat. Goku faced difficulty even with 2x Kaioken when fighting Vegeta, clearly indicating that Vegeta’s power surpassed 16000.

Being beaten by Vegeta, Goku was forced to use 3x Kaioken. Yajirobe from a certain distance observes the battle. Finally, the table gets turned on Vegeta, where he was bashed and thrashed by Goku. Goku surpassed 21000 as per the Scouter that Bulma was using in Kame house. But the Scouter could not handle any more load and therefore exploded.
Goku achieved power beyond 24000 increasing his strength. With the added boost in power Goku at the cost of his body being heavily strained, constantly pummeled Vegeta (tit for tat). Vegeta’s ego and pride as the strongest Saiyan gets tampered, as he was forced to bleed. Vegeta grew angry releasing his aura causing Earth to shake violently.

Vegeta initiated his strongest technique, the Gallick gun to destroy Earth. Goku without any further delay generated the Kamehameha technique. Both clashed equally due to the greater ki quality of Vegeta. To give his all to win, Goku forcefully used 4x Kaioken. The Kamehameha wave overpowered Gallick gun pushing Vegeta to outer space.

Yajirobe approached Goku congratulating him on his win. Goku is so much worn down physically that a casual tap on his body by Yajirobe made Goku feel like torture. Goku advised Yajirobe to not stay here. Goku has sensed Vegeta to escape the attack. Vegeta plans to use the true power of Saiyans. When he realizes that there is no moon, he curses Kakarot for destroying it.

Saiyan Origin
King Kai once explained to Goku the origin of Saiyan planet and Saiyans. The Saiyan planet used to have two species. One was the current Saiyans that Goku knows about. These Saiyan’s ancestors were savage and had unruly behaviour. They were uncivilized beings living in the wild. The other extinct species known as Tsufrians on the opposite were only half the size of Saiyans.
Tsufrians were civilized, advanced in technology and lived in skyscrapers. The Saiyan race had conflict against Tsufriyans due to the Tsufrians lifestyle (really!). Planet Vegeta had a moon that could only be visible after every 8 years. Saiyans who had a tail unlike Tsufrians were waiting for this moment. They turned into an Oozaru horde and attacked Tsufrians.

Tsufrians used advanced weapons to counter them but were completely wiped out by Oozaru Saiyans. However, Saiyans were not technologically advanced and therefore didn’t have any source of trade. Therefore, the Saiyans contacted other alien life forms who were technologically advanced to supply them resources (more like Saiyans face slapping themselves without realizing).

In return Saiyans became mercenaries and started sending weak Saiyan children to weak inhabitant planets to capture them. They also used this method to send strong Saiyans to wipe out the strong native life forms of other planets, conquering it and sell to the advanced technology hirers.
